A year has passed since the chilling vampire assault on Barrow, Alaska during its month-long polar night, and Stella Oleson is now consumed by grief and vengeance. Haunted by nightmares and plagued by sorrow over her husband Eben’s death, she travels the world trying to warn others that vampires exist. Her warnings fall on deaf ears, leading her to the brink of despair before she receives cryptic instructions from a mysterious figure named Dane. Reluctantly, she finds herself traveling to Los Angeles, where she plots her next move.

In Los Angeles, Stella attempts to expose the existence of vampires during a public lecture, which leads her to set overhead ultraviolet lamps ablaze—incinerating several hidden vampires in front of a stunned audience. However, her actions land her in custody, where she faces FBI Agent Norris, who is later revealed to be a “familiar,” a human minion protecting the vampires’ secrecy.
Freed from custody, Stella is approached by a trio—Paul, Amber, and Todd—sent by Dane to recruit her for a dangerous mission. They reveal that Lilith, the vampire queen, orchestrated the massacre in Barrow and must be stopped, or else vampires will continue agitating the world. Though initially hesitant, Stella reluctantly joins them, especially after Paul shares his own tragic past, making her realize she must confront this evil head-on.
The group infiltrates a vampire nest, but the mission quickly deteriorates: Todd is bitten and transforms into a vampire, forcing Stella into the heartbreaking decision to kill him with a cinder block. They barely escape the nest and capture a vampire, whom they interrogate using ultraviolet lights. This encounter leads them to a nest with a captive feeding station and intelligence that points them to Lilith’s lair aboard a ship anchored in the bay.

As Stella’s resolve and emotional defenses harden, Lilith furthers her sinister schemes by transforming Agent Norris into a vampire. When the team boards the ship to intercept Lilith’s operation, they face deadly resistance. Dane is killed, Amber is devoured in shocking fashion, and Paul falls in combat. In a desperate showdown, Stella decapitates Lilith, and to her astonishment, the remaining vampires allow her to leave unimpeded—signaling the collapse of Lilith’s dominance.
Returning to Barrow, Stella attempts a final act of love by reviving Eben with her own blood. At first it seems to work, but in a haunting twist, Eben returns—only to sink his fangs into her neck. The film ends in tragic ambiguity, with Stella seemingly succumbing to her wounds as the screen goes dark.
